Last Wednesday 13 IGS teams took to Manly Beach to compete in the Beach Volleyball Schools cup, going head to head against surrounding schools and each other.
Students were buzzing as many of the students have been training on Friday mornings and were excited to put what they have been learning into practice. Each team played at least three 40 minute games, giving each match everything they had.
A number of teams excelled throughout the day, with the Division 3 Boys earning themselves a spot in the grand final and narrowly missing out on gold but coming away with a silver medal. Senior girls Elyse Burke and Sophie Cotton also played an extremely strong tournament, which saw them enter the Division 1 finals.
It was a great day which left students keenly planning their teams and strategies for next year’s Beach Schools Cup. All of the teams proudly represented IGS and showcased excellent sportsmanship and effort, especially in the tough conditions and hot weather. Congratulations to all of IGS’ beach volleyballers!
