The 2024 IGS Instrumental Competition took place on Wednesday evening in Soundspace, showcasing a broad spectrum of instrumental repertoire from students in both Primary and High School. This event offered a valuable enrichment opportunity for students to enhance their performance skills and versatility as musicians.
The competition was adjudicated by Robin Carter, a seasoned adjudicator of House Music Festivals and community Instrumental and Vocal Competitions across numerous Sydney schools. Her experience as Director of Music at William Clarke College, Abbotsleigh School, and Edgecliff Preparatory School added a wealth of expertise to the event.
Participants were required to perform two contrasting pieces, carefully selected to demonstrate their advancing musical abilities, technical proficiency, and overall musicianship. The competition featured divisions for Junior (Years 3–6), Intermediate (Years 7–9), and Advanced (Years 10–12) levels.
