All-Rounder Audrey takes HSC in her stride

2024 HSC All-Round Achiever Audrey Storer joined IGS in Year 9, throwing herself into her favourite studies, English and Drama, and being creative.

“If you are doing things you are passionate about, the motivation will be there,” she said.

“You will have a natural affinity with the things you enjoy.

“I always have trouble trying to quantify how I studied or worked. It just happened.

“I had to teach myself how to study over and over, for every assessment. You’ve got to find something different that works for each assignment.”

While some might advise HSC students against taking on too many major works and extra-curricular activities, Audrey leapt at the opportunity to take part in the IGS 2024 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to create three major works, and write “a Christmas play about a dysfunctional family”.

“I was told that I needed to have stellar time management, and it’s my major weakness.”

Even so, Audrey enjoyed studying English Extension 1 and 2, Visual Arts, Ancient History and Drama.

To add to her year, Audrey’s IGS Senior Theatresports team made the finals.

Her ultimate goal was to study English at ANU, for which she was offered early entry.

“I really didn’t need to be worrying about the HSC all that much.”

Now, having done so well?

“Mainly I feel relieved that I achieved up to the standard I was aiming for.”
