Board Visits Kangaroo Valley

Yesterday, Directors of the School Board, along with Principal Shauna Colnan, visited our rural campus, The Retreat Kangaroo Valley. This Board meeting and site visit provided an opportunity to explore the serene surroundings of our outdoor education centre and review the exciting plans for our upcoming project, The Arbour.

Designed by BVN Architects, The Arbour will be a central, safe and flexible learning hub that will enrich The Retreat and the offerings available there. BVN presented  their concept plan, highlighting how this innovative multi-purpose space will enhance the student learning experience while keeping all who visit The Retreat safe from bushfire. The new facility will feature a learning centre, performance area, large deck, function space, industrial kitchen and shower and bathroom facilities for camping on site.

Located within two hours’ drive of Sydney, our Kangaroo Valley campus serves as a unique education centre, wellness retreat and dedicated outdoor space for deeper learning and community engagement. Embracing the natural world, Kangaroo Valley expands our students’ sense of connectedness and belonging, providing a place for learning to flourish and where memories are made during students’ formative years at school. The vision is every child every year and we are currently finalising the 2025 Day Trip Program so that all students have the opportunity to visit. Building The Arbour will move us in the direction of enabling students to stay overnight at The Retreat as regulations for overnight school use require that there is a fire refuge on the property.

The visit was a significant step forward in bringing The Arbour to life. As the next big project within our Building Fund, The Arbour represents our commitment to creating exceptional and safe learning environments for our students.
