This week in the STEP program saw the return of Sam from her trip to the northern hemisphere, and a farewell to Rachael who has been an amazing Facilitator for the past 4 weeks of the program. Sadly the session kicked off later than we would have liked with the reality of COVID still being present in the community affecting our older people, so the need to wear masks and face shields.
Emma, Shanel & Ashlee
Emma enjoyed her time with Shanel and Ashlee, they played ring toss, which brought smiles and friendly competition, and discussed their favourite music playing in the background.
Bernie & Kaya
This week, Bernie shared stories of playing rugby
without boots and growing up in West Wyalong. He
and Kaya discussed COVID-19 changes in the nursing
home, his favourite Arnotts biscuits, road trips, and
joked about card games usually having only two
jokers.
Louise & Mim
This week Louise and Mim discussed their favourite topic,
cats, and had a conversation about Louise’s book ‘I love
cats and kittens, over 50 breeds.’ While this was a the main
discussion topic they also looked at some RU OK cards
talking about who makes you happiest, what’s your
favourite place for a holiday. At the end of the session we
played ‘We are Australian’ Louise’s favourite song.
Katina & Elyse
During this session Elyse and Katina used the RU OK day
cards to ask each other questions, which led to a great
discussion about their lives and interests. Katina shared
her love for classical music, and Elyse talked about how
she enjoys Fleetwood Mac and even attended a Stevie
Nick’s concert a few years ago. They ended their session
with a fun game of ring toss, where Katina impressively
got all the rings in!
Margaret, Lenny & Melody
During this week’s session Margret, Lenny and Melody
talked about her favourite singer, Tina Turner, and went
through some RU OK cards. They also talked through
and all the amazing mix of different backgrounds in the
room from Irish, English, Indian, Persian, Swiss,
and Czech.
