Language Teacher Linda Gu reports, “We had different activities to immerse the two classes in Chinese culture, such as lion dancing, singing (Happy New Year) and sending each other red envelopes for gifts.
“We arranged for a simple lion dance demonstration. It’s colorfully vivid and lively, traditional Chinese dance that involves performers dressing in lion costumes and mimicking flashy lion movements to the beat of drums and cymbals.
“We also sang “Happy New Year”, and taught the students the song “Gong Xi Gong Xi” (恭喜恭喜), which means “Congratulations” in Mandarin, commonly sung during Chinese New Year.
“We made Interactive Games with a Chinese New Year theme, such as a “lucky draw”, where children pick red envelopes with small prizes inside and give them to other students.
“By incorporating these elements into the celebration, we created a fun and enriching experience for both classes. Thanks to all teachers for your outstanding contributions in helping our students learn about and appreciate Chinese culture whilst also celebrating Chinese New Year together.”
恭喜恭喜 to all involved!
