Harriet studied Japanese and accelerated to sit her HSC in the course last year. She also studied Spanish at IGS for four years.
Harriet is hoping to begin an Arts degree majoring in political science and Aboriginal studies at ANU next year.
The opportunity to host a Japanese exchange student when she was in Year 9 was a highlight of Harriet’s years at IGS.
“I think about that all the time. It was such a great experience.
“I was also interested in social justice and Aboriginal rights” and IGS helped her explore these subjects.
Harriet is rightly proud to have led the waste audit at the School earlier this year which will contribute to IGS’s credentials for an Eco Schools Green Flag Award.
She has worked to improve the sustainability of progress at the School, contributing to more effective recycling, improving recycled waste proportions from 20 per cent in 2020 to 50 per cent this year.
She is also proud of her fellow IGS students’ participation in school strikes calling for climate action.
We thank Harriet for her many contributions and wish her and her 2022 classmates all the very best for the future.
