Last Saturday morning, 10 IGS students interested in AI learning had the exciting opportunity to visit ABC studios in Ultimo. The students attended a special recording of the podcast Is AI a Technology to be Feared, or a Tool to be Taught? hosted by Waleed Aly and Scott Stephens. This event was part of ABC Radio National and ABC Education’s A Week with Students.
During the podcast, the hosts discussed the rapid rise of AI and its impact on society. They highlighted that more than two-thirds of Australian students are already using AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot. The conversation delved into the benefits and risks of AI, emphasising the importance of education and technological literacy in harnessing AI for the common good.
The event was a fantastic learning experience for our students, who engaged in thought-provoking discussions about the future of AI. It also provided them with a unique behind-the-scenes look at how a professional podcast is produced.
We invite everyone to tune in to the podcast on ABC Radio National. Listen to the first of two episodes from A Week with Students: The Mindfield.
