Exploring Oceanography

Year 10 Geography students visited the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and the Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour this week as part of their study of Oceanography.

The aquarium offers an immersive educational experience that enhances students’ understanding of the geographical concepts they have been studying in class. A hands-on experience, students were able to deepen their understanding of marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and the impact of human activities on the world’s oceans.

From mesmerising exhibits featuring vibrant tropical ecosystems to the Maritime Museum’s historical artifacts, students connected theoretical knowledge with real-world examples. Engaging with experts and exploring interactive displays, the students gained valuable insights that will undoubtedly enhance their appreciation for the intricate dynamics of our oceans.

Thanks to Head of Sustainability Mr Fedele for organising this immersive excursion that not only broadened students’ oceanographic knowledge but also sparked a sense of environmental responsibility among our keen geographers.
