This week, IGS hosted a group of students from Alfred Deakin School in Canberra for a Climate Fresk workshop — a dynamic learning experience providing students with a reliable foundation to comprehend the intricacies of climate change.
Driven by curiosity and a desire to deepen their understanding, the Alfred Deakin students, led by their teacher Jordan McGillivray, made their journey from Canberra to Sydney after discovering that IGS was making waves in sustainability.
IGS students Lexie P, Lilla S, Auden G, Saul M, Genevieve E and Dominic L facilitated the interactive workshop, leading their Canberra peers through group activities that involved brainstorming practical sustainability initiatives. This collaborative effort underscored the importance of initiatives like Climate Fresk in fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to sustainability among young people. The session concluded with students regrouping to share their concepts and reflect on the power of education in driving change.
Thank you to Jordan McGillivray and the students from Alfred Deakin School for making the trip, and a special thanks to Carmelo Fedele Head of Sustainability and our IGS students for their dedication to fostering a greener future. Together, they demonstrated that climate action begins with knowledge, collaboration and a shared commitment to change.
