Happy OSHC Educators’ Day!

On Wednesday 31 July we celebrated National Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Educators’ Day, an annual day to recognise the importance of OSHC educators across Australia.

We reflected on and acknowledged the positive impact that OSHC educators have on the lives of children, young people and their families here at IGS providing a leisure program after school and throughout the term breaks on our School calendar.

In our OSHC service, in 3 years, the After School Care program has grown from welcoming 97 children each week to almost 200, and almost all Primary School children are enrolled in the service.

Thanks to our Coordinators Jess and Maisha and all the educators in their team. Join us in wishing them a happy OSHC Educators Day!

Did you know, children in NSW:

  • Spend an average of 11.3 hours in OSHC per week
  • Some children spend up to 5.5 hours in OSHC per day
  • In the past 7 years, the number of children 6-12 years accessing OSHC has grown by 59.6%
