HICES 2024 Inspires Action on Sustainability

Thirteen of our Sustainable Futures students recently attended the two-day HICES 2024 Sustainability Expo. The event enabled students to explore cutting-edge sustainability practices and deepen their understanding of innovative solutions, shaping the future.

On the first day, students visited key locations across Sydney, including the Sydney Sustainability Hub, where they participated in the Banish recycling workshop. They also toured the renowned Michael Mobbs Sustainable House in Chippendale, gaining insights into practical sustainability initiatives. A relaxing break at Peace Park provided a moment to recharge amidst tranquil surroundings.

Day two was hosted at The Hills Grammar School, featuring inspiring keynote addresses by Ben Dessen and Sophie Skaparis. Students also took part in engaging workshops, presentations and collaborative activities alongside peers from other HICES schools, fostering a sense of shared purpose and innovation.

Thank you to teachers Carmelo Fedele and Jennifer Arapakis for organising this transformative experience. And special thanks to the organisations envolved that left our students equipped with fresh ideas and renewed determination to champion sustainability within our School and the wider Community.
