Interacting with students and educators, we shared teaching methods and they learnt about our institution’s culture.
Yingyi Zhi, teacher from the delegation gave insights into her time at IGS and in Australian school systems;
“Through fruitful discussion with the students and teachers here, we not only gained a deeper understanding of your education system, but I also gained valuable inspiration for improving our own school practice.
We have some similarities and differences in Education system. We both share the similar education concepts which advocates students’ holistic development, caring about students’ physical and mental wellbeing.
However, there are some differences we can’t ignore, such as Australia’s diverse curriculum system, varied assessment methods, personalised approaches to student learning, which are highly mature and comprehensive. All of them provide significant insights for us to learn from.”
Mr Hu, the Director of the Basic Education Division, Henan Provincial Department of Education, reflected on Henan’s history as they look to lead the future of education,
“As the main birthplace of Chinese Civilisation, Henan has always had a long tradition of operating schools. The pioneering education system has created generations of talented people and ensured the cultural prosperity of the Central Plains. This laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of Henan‘s education sector.
Vocational education is also actively building up, and there is a strong urge to drive innovation to a higher ground.
In the present time Henan education system is gradually changing from simply been ‘big’ to be ‘strong’, we are also aware that to achieve such a goal, we can not just rely on ourselves, but also need the support of our counterparts globally, With the best possible education resources, we look forward for opportunities to learn, and to exchange ideas and practices.”
This initiative fosters mutual understanding and strengthens educational ties between Henan Province, China, and IGS.
