The IGS Sports Portfolio Leader, who has attended IGS since Preschool, achieved an ATAR of 99.5 and has been named in the HSC All-Round Achievers list for results in the highest band possible (Band 6 or Band E4) in 10 or more units of his courses.
“Please thank all the teachers for their dedication and hard work and encouragement,” Jamison said.
He said he was “happy, surprised and excited” to achieve top place in one of his favourite courses.
“I’ve been learning Italian since Preschool, so it was a no brainer to pick up Spanish in Year 7 and French in Year 10,” he said.
“I love the Spanish language and culture.
“Being passionate about what you are studying makes it easier to really get absorbed.
“Having accelerated in Italian and doing my HSC in that last year also helped me with my exam technique.”
Jamison described the COVID restrictions and lockdowns as “a blessing in disguise”.
“Being in lockdown meant I was able to really focus on what was important, to really tune in to my classes and make the most of free periods without distraction.”
He also kept up as many physical activities as possible to enhance his wellbeing, staying within the 5km radius of his home, going for runs and kicking a ball around every afternoon to relax.
He also enjoyed studying Drama, and gave an extraordinary performance during the IGS 2021 Speech Night.
Jamison, who received three early offers to universities, is keeping his options open, but would like whatever he chooses to allow him to retain and strengthen his language capabilities.
“A massive thank you to my teachers,” he said.
“They have always been really supportive; always pushing me to do my best, encouraging me and everyone around me.”
“Congratulations to Jamison,” said IGS Principal Shauna Colnan.
“This is a spectacular achievement from a student who epitomises the idea of an all-rounder. We are extremely proud of you.”
