Last week, Year 4 students stepped out of the classroom and into the vibrant world of Luna Park for an unforgettable Science lesson. As part of their study of Forces in Science, they spent the day exploring the mechanics behind the movement, twists, and thrills of the park’s rides.
Students were given the opportunity to experience and analyse the forces at play—gravity, friction, and momentum—as they whizzed through roller coasters and spun on carousels. The hands-on experience brought their learning to life, showing how the scientific concepts they’ve been studying directly apply to the world around them.
The excitement didn’t stop there. Back on solid ground, students channelled their newfound knowledge into creativity, designing their very own amusement park rides. Using their understanding of how forces interact, they sketched concepts for rides that could twist, turn, and excite.
A big thank you to our dedicated Year 4 teachers for organising this thrilling learning experience that combined education and fun.
