“Throughout my journey at IGS, previous school captains have been a source of motivation and inspiration for me. Not just personally in the way they’ve interacted with me but the impact I’ve seen them have on other people,” Madiba said.
“The passion and vibrancy of previous leaders always encouraged myself and others to make the most of our opportunities at IGS. I’m grateful that IGS honours and celebrates the diversity of its student body, asking only that we bring our genuine selves, rather than sacrificing crucial aspects just to fit the same mold and I want to help perpetuate these values which have shaped and inspired me during my time here.
“As Head Boy, I hope to continue and enhance the legacy of IGS being a safe and supportive place for all students. It’s very important to me that every student feels as invited and cared for within the school as I have in my time here, and I hope to achieve this through close collaboration with the leadership team, heads of school and all year groups to pinpoint areas which we can strengthen.”
Madiba said he also wants to encourage students to give back to the wider community through volunteer programs.
“Ultimately I want to give back to a community that has given so much to me whilst empowering and assisting students in becoming their best selves.”
