Mock Trial Team’s Unstoppable Streak

Demonstrating exceptional skill and professionalism, the IGS Mock Trial Team has consistently secured victories throughout Terms 1 and 2 this year. These successes have earned them a place in the NSW Schools Mock Trial knockout rounds, commencing in Term 3 next week.

Under the expert guidance of parent coach Bashir Kumar-Hazard, the team advanced through three rounds, overcoming Newtown High School of the Performing Arts who defaulted in Round 1, and securing straight wins against St Andrew’s Cathedral School in Round 2 and Sydney Boys High School in Round 3.

In their last competition, the team from left to right Anna Morrow (Barrister), Orla O’Reilly (Barrister), Zainab Moloobhoy (Witness), Kai Chehab Humphreys (Witness), Mirabel Ashley (Solicitor), Roxanne McKenzie (Court Officer), absent Lilla Smyth Langdon (Solicitor) put Sydney Boys to the sword, successfully defending a civil case surrounding a claim of negligence. The team showed teamwork and drive in preparing their case over weeks.

A special mention to our parent coach Bashir Kumar-Hazard who continues to commit time to the team amid her hectic real-world legal world. The team is excited for the knockout stage of the Mock Trial Competition in Term 3, having won all of their round robin matches.

Congratulations and good luck with the next competition!
