IGS was proud to have a presence at the Victoria Park Mardi Gras Fair Day for the first time on Sunday, joining thousands of people in celebrating diversity, inclusion and community.
Led by the IGS P&C, the School’s stall became a hub for students, families, alumni and staff to connect and showcase the vibrant culture of IGS. Community Relations Manager Paul Galea and P&C President Hayley Dean helped bring the stand to life, welcoming visitors and sharing the spirit of IGS with all who stopped by.
Fair Day has long been a highlight of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras season, bringing together a wide range of community groups, performers and businesses in a celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride and inclusion. The event, held annually in Victoria Park, has grown significantly since its inception, now attracting tens of thousands of people who gather to enjoy live entertainment, market stalls and family-friendly activities.
For IGS, participating in Fair Day is a natural extension of the School’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. With LGBTQIA+ students, staff and rainbow families as part of the IGS Community, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate and affirm these connections.
As part of the festivities, the IGS Vibrant Pride T-Shirt was launched, allowing members of the School Community to show their support.
The success of this year’s Fair Day debut has set the foundation for future involvement, and plans are already in motion to ensure IGS continues to participate at key events in the coming years.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and support our School’s first-ever Mardi Gras Fair Day stall.
