Year 6 celebrated their graduation with a Farewell Assembly from Primary School this week. The Farewell Assembly had lots of music performances, from singing to guitar solo, students left the audience impressed and waiting for more.
Principal Shauna Colnan told a story of a courageous character from Australian life, Leonard Gwyther, and spoke about braveness and adventure. The true story of the boy and his horse, and their long journey from country Victoria to Sydney to see the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, captured the public imagination.
As Year 6 gets ready for their next adventure in Year 7, Ms Colnan shared some advice “Go into High School knowing that it will be filled with excitement, new learning and people there to help and guide you. If you have butterflies in your stomach before the first day, that’s ok. I’ll let you in on a little secret: most people do. Remember to just put one step in front of the other and try your very best. We can’t ask for more than this.”
Thank you Year 6 for all you have given to our School and for leading the IGS Primary School with such distinction. IGS wishes you all the very best of luck on the next steps towards High School!
