Sayonara to our Osaka Exchange Students

The final week of the Japanese exchange program was busy with engaging activities and learning experiences. Thanks to the Science Department, the students joined Year 11 Biology on an excursion to Long Reef, where they explored Ecosystem Dynamics, collecting and analysing data on the rock platform. Despite the weather, they enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with IGS students. Their final excursion took them to Hyde Park, Australia’s oldest park and St Mary’s Cathedral, where Ms Otake shared insights into Catholic Christianity.

Over the three weeks they attended IGS, the exchange students participated in English lessons under the guidance of Ms Carter and Ms Maruno, making impressive progress in their language skills. They also proved to be excellent conversation partners for Year 9 and 11 Japanese Accelerants students and assisted Ms Ohta in teaching Kindergarten and Year 1 Japanese learners. A special highlight was meeting Ms Maruyama, their Senpai (senior student) and an alum of Osaka International School.

On Friday 14 March, the IGS Community bid farewell to the Osaka exchange students. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making their stay so memorable, and special thanks to Hiroko Yamaguchi High School Japanese Teacher for taking care of their timetable and overall wellbeing.
