“Following the scientific method, students predicted, tested, observed and made conclusions about which materials “schwimmt” or “sinkt”,” said Primary German language teacher Brooke Fuerbach.
Using this new knowledge, students were given the task of designing a watercraft that would be able to carry a Lego figure safely across a body of water.
“Whilst students always enjoy carrying out hand-on experiments in the classroom, they were so excited to be able to apply what they had learnt to solve a real-world problem,” she said.
“This task required students to think critically and creatively, with the result being a collection of designed crafts, each fit to purpose and each uniquely inspiring.”
