A group of Year 7 students recently interviewed Principal Shauna Colnan for their podcast project, focusing on resilience. As part of their coursework, the students worked in groups to create a 3-6 minute podcast exploring various aspects of resilience, drawing from real-life examples and interviews.
The students interviewed Principal Colnan to gain insight into her experiences with resilience in education. During the interview, she shared her perspectives on how resilience is taught in schools and why it is a crucial skill for both students and teachers. Her responses provided the students with valuable content for their podcast, allowing them to dive deeper into the concept of resilience from a leadership perspective.
The podcast assignment challenged students to collaborate, research and produce content that connected with their coursework on emotional growth and social changes. By interviewing Principal Colnan, they were able to create a podcast that reflected both their learning and the practical application of resilience in real-life situations.
This project highlights the important work that the PDHPE curriculum explores beyond sports, focusing on developing students’ social, emotional and mental resilience, integral parts of personal development.
