Last week marked a milestone for sustainability at IGS as the final part of our community participated in Climate Fresk. This intimate and engaging session saw expert student facilitators guide parents through the 42-card game, mapping the causes and effects of climate change. The relaxed and fun environment highlighted that the best learning happens when participants feel safe to explore and discuss ideas together.
IGS has now fully integrated Climate Fresk across students, staff, and parents, completing one of Head of Sustainability Carmelo Fedele’s key goals for 2025. The role reversal—parents learning from their children—brought fresh energy, reinforcing how collaborative learning fosters deeper understanding and action.
“Cocktail party, group therapy session or COP 30? It was hard to tell,” Carmelo said. “One thing is for certain, all of the participants of our Community Climate Fresk left the workshop more informed about Climate Change, inspired by our superb student facilitators and equipped with strategies to drive climate action within their spheres of influence.” The mix of curiosity, engagement and knowledge-sharing made for a dynamic session, proving that sustainability education is at its most powerful when it is interactive and community-driven.
A huge thank you to Carmelo for his continued dedication to bringing Climate Fresk to the IGS community and beyond!
