Students’ Acts of Kindness

We are proud to share the names of the wonderful volunteer work some of our students have done with Kids Giving Back during the first Term and the April School holidays. Louis Chesterman in Year 5, Lotte Flood and Marcelo Cipri in Year 6, and Lila Maywald in Year 7 were part of a crew of 930 young legends who helped provide over 6,500 meals, snack packs, and care packages and wrote heartfelt messages to support 15 charities across Sydney.

The students showed incredible leadership, compassion, and a real drive to give back to the community, and they were recognised during the end of term assembly this week. Recognising their efforts is a great way to show appreciation and inspire others to get involved too.

One of the key findings from The Growing Up In Australia – The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children is that “if by age 13 a young person was involved in volunteering, the odds of having ‘clinical levels’ of emotional symptoms two years later were reduced by approximately 28%,” shared Carole Schlessinger from Kids Giving Back. This underscores the profound impact that volunteering can have on young people’s emotional well-being.

We would like to get more of our students involved in giving back initiatives and encourage them to become compassionate leaders and contribute to the Next Generation of Generosity.
