No organisation, particularly a school, can be at its best without that wonderful group of people who volunteer to make those extra, special things happen.
IGS is no different and volunteers, led by the PTF, make a massive difference to the quality of our community.
Primary Disco, Year 12 Formal, film evenings, uniform sales and text book swaps are just some of the ways in which our volunteers contribute to school life.
Last Friday morning under the jacaranda blossoms in the IGS Peace Garden, a breakfast was held to thank some of our many volunteers.
Principal Shauna Colnan spoke glowingly of their contribution, while the audience sipped coffee, tea and juice or enjoyed a pastry or two.
Student leader Sami Lightfoot thanked the volunteers on behalf of the students of IGS. He also praised the leadership of PTF President, Hayley Dean, giving her a beautiful bunch of flowers in appreciation of her efforts.
Hayley also received flowers from the PTF!
Hayley thanked all of her team and remarked on the number of people from the IGS Community who had volunteered during the year. She pointed out Cressida Pollack, the organiser of the Primary Disco, for particular praise.
The short official ceremony over, attendees stood around chatting while student Emma McCardle played lovely melodies on her piano. It was a very pleasant event, indeed.
