Wear It Purple 2024

This year’s Wear It Purple Day at IGS was a vibrant and inclusive celebration, centred around the theme Your Passion, Your Pride. The whole School came together to show their support and solidarity, gathering outside the front of the school before the High School assembly.

Wear It Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people.

The assembly featured a powerful address from Jain Moralee, CEO of Twenty10, the largest and longest-running organisation in NSW working with young LGBTIQA+ people. Twenty10 provides a range of services including housing, counselling, social support groups and programs for people aged 12-25. They also support people of all ages through their QLife program, Australia’s LGBTIQA+ phone and web peer support service, and deliver LGBTIQA+ inclusivity and suicide prevention training. Jain spoke to students about the importance of creating safe spaces and using language that fosters acceptance and pride, underscoring the significance of celebrating individuality and embracing diversity within our community.

Following the assembly, the festivities continued with a lively BBQ, where proceeds were donated to Wear It Purple. The event not only raised funds for this important cause but also provided an opportunity for everyone to come together, enjoy delicious food and strengthen the sense of unity and support.

Wear It Purple Day at IGS is a testament to the school’s commitment to celebrating each individual’s passions and pride, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
