IGS is delighted to welcome Gerard Elms as the new Deputy Head of Primary School – Teaching and Learning.
Gerard brings extensive experience in educational leadership and primary education. Holding a Master of Teaching and a Master of Educational Leadership, he has a deep understanding of the NSW curriculum and a demonstrated ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives that drive student achievement. His leadership experience includes roles as Deputy Principal, Assistant Principal, Instructional Leader, and Curriculum and Policy Monitoring Facilitator for the Department of Education.
Throughout his career, Gerard has successfully implemented school-wide initiatives that have led to substantial improvements in student learning outcomes. When he was Vice President of the Primary English Teaching Association Australia, he championed excellence in literacy, language and literature. He was also committed to enhancing the integration of Mathematics across diverse learning areas, working closely with leadership teams and teachers to strengthen curriculum connections.
Passionate about fostering evidence-informed, innovative teaching practices, Gerard is excited to collaborate with staff and students to enhance teaching and learning at IGS.
