We were delighted to welcome Yuki A, an exchange student from Meikei High School in Tokyo, who arrived at IGS on 15 March for a two-week stay. Hosted by Year 10 student Ryder W, Yuki has been immersing himself in school life and enjoying time with his host family.
During his visit, Yuki has had the opportunity to join senior-year Japanese classes, where he has loved engaging with IGS students. He is also particularly enjoying subjects like Film Studies, which are not typically offered in Japan.
Last Friday, thanks to the Science Department, Yuki, Ryder and their friend Alex took part in the Year 7 Taronga Zoo excursion, where they learnt about Australian native wildlife while soaking in the spectacular harbour views.
This week, Yuki continued visiting junior-year Japanese lessons and, alongside Year 12 Japanese student Jude, explored Sydney’s Fish Market and Chinatown. He also toured the University of Sydney and its museum, guided by 2024 alum Christopher Czernecki.
We hope Yuki has enjoyed his time at IGS and leaves with wonderful memories of his Australian experience.
